One More Down..................

And lots more to go! LOL! Hello, I hope you are having a lovely Valentine's Day? My husband gave me a beautiful card and has been extra nice all day. I am so thankful for him. He supports all of my habbits, Good and Bad! LOL!

Okay, now on to the real reason I'm blogging tonight. I have lost one more pound! WooHoo! I was a little discouraged at first, but our Weight Watcher's leader put a little more perspective on things. She told me that I didn't gain it all over night, so therefore I won't be losing it over night either. She looked at my meal tracker and gave me a few tips. I also know that I've got to start moving, so my challenge this week is to start doing something. Walk, rake the yard or even playing with the grandchildren will help. I may even check out the YMCA's rates and if they are not too expensive, I'll start going there for even more motivation.

I also need to get more of the free fruits and vegetable in me. I bought this cookbook to help me with that, so I hope I'll lose a couple more pounds next week.

I sure am thankful you are taking this journey with me. It helps to know that I may be helping somebody along the way.

Thanks for stopping by. Please visit often and leave a comment if you wiil. Hugs Brenda

Common Courtesy.............

What ever happened to common courtesy? You know................ as a child growing up in the south, you were taught to be polite and to use your manners. The older I get the less I see of  this. Children are just not taught this any more! It is so sad that courtesy and manners are dying out along with several other things that will come to mind later, I'll write about those another time. LOL! But right now, this is what has faced my husband and I these past weeks.

The past couple of weeks or so, we have been trying to get in contact with Gulf Life, now known as American General, to let them know we have moved and to have a representative to contact us. We have made several calls to the home office and a local office to give updates or what have you. The home office has said they have given information to the local office and the local office doesn't know anything! Mind you, we have made all the calls and no one has returned the favor. We are just a little upset because for the past twenty years we have had the premiums automaticlly withdrawn from our bank account every month. Now! Wouldn't this upset you?

I was always taught to say Thank You, Please, Maam , or Sir. While I was in Wal-Mart last week buying groceries, a deli employee was stocking cold cuts. I politely said hello, and asked how her day was going. After a couple of minutes she didn't even acknowledge that I had said anything to her, but did ask me in a short tone " can I help you with something. " My husband was on the other end of Wal-Mart picking up some prescriptions. When he came over to help me finish my shopping he proceeded to tell me about his encounter with the pharmacy cashier. He said she was very short and abrupt with her speaking and while talking to him she was putting on lip gloss. I'm sorry! But isn't that something you do in the bathroom or off to the side. Not standing in front of the customer! Right?

Now, last but not least. This week my husband goes to Parker's convenient store every day to get a bag of ice and a couple of two liter bottles of Coke. He's been doing this for about six months. For the past three or four times the ice has been in large unbreakable chunks that he doesn't want in his cooler. On this particular day an employee was in the cooler bagging small bags of ice. My husband asked if she would mind bagging him a large bag because he had been getting large chunks. She tells him No, that wasn't her job, she only bags the small ones. My husband dropped his jaw in amazement. He told her that if she was an employee of his, she would no longer have a job and asked for the store manager's phone number. He called a couple of times to complain, but had to leave a message. No returned call yet!

Well, I'm off of my soap box now! Just needed to rant and rave a little bit. Hope you understand? LOL!
If you feel the same way I do! Please let me know by leaving a comment. Thanks for the ear! Hugs Brenda

The Weigh In Continued

Happy Happy Tuesday! I made it through Super Bowl Sunday! I'm so excided! My very first week of weight watchers, and I've lost 4.6 lbs. Woo Hoo!I was worried at first, I was afraid that I hadn't lost any weight. I've been working really hard. There were times when I did get really hungry, but I hung in there. I know one thing , that I've got to keep a lot of low or no points fruits and vegetables on hand. There was one time I thought I could eat this house! LOL! I was so hungry! I drank a glass of water and it would seem to subside for awhile.

I'm not a sports watcher, so I asked my husband if he would go over to our daughter and son-in-law's house to watch the game. I knew they would be pulling out the pizza, chips, dips, and everything else they could think of. I stayed home and watched a movie instead. My movie snacks included a peach cup, carrot & cucumber sticks, and a bag of Nabisco 100 cal Oreo thin crisps. By not hanging out with the family while watching T.V. I was very satisfied with my snacks. I know you're probably saying " that's not good that you didn't spend time with family", but I felt I would not have been strong enough yet to say no to those snacks I Love So Well!

That's about all I can think of to tell you at the moment. I will be in and out on this blog as I think of things that may be important or maybe just to vent if I'm struggling.

Thank you so much for stopping by and reading my jabbering. My goal with this blog is to help me and anyone else that it may help along the way. Have a wonderful week. Hugs Brenda

The Weigh In..................

Hello there! I'm so glad that you are visiting. I guess you are asking, why a blog about life? Well, the number one reason is; it is good therapy for me. So That's Just Life is about getting through and possibly understanding life.

In this blog you will read a lot of things that have and will happen to me. I thought that if this has happened to me, so there are probably more people out there that would like to here that you are not alone.

To start I would like to tell you a little about me. I'm a fifty-one- year old out of work wife of thirty-two years. My husband is disabled since the year 2000. This is the first time in my life that I have been out of work for any length of time and also without insurance. Does this sound familiar?

I thought my very first post on this blog would be about what's going on in my life at the moment. Then we will get into other stuff. I don't want to scare you off with my very first post. LOL!

I went to the Dr. a couple of weeks ago, and she said my sugar, cholesterol, and my weight was out of control. I already have too many other problems going on to deal with things that can escalate from this.

Last week I started weight watchers! Since I've been out of work, I have put on a lot of weight. For health reasons I have decided to try and get this weight off. I weighed in @ 261 lbs. Tuesday night @ 5:30 I will weight in to see how much I've lost. Keep your fingers crossed. I have really been good and stayed on track. I'm excited but also scared too! Does that make sense? Well anyway, I will fill you in........ after I weigh in. LOL!

Thank you so much for stopping by and taking this journey with me! I hope my progress will also encourage you! Hugs Brenda
